Jessters back

After my weeklong roadtrip, first 900 miles Monday and Tuesday for work to Detroit and back, then up to Mackinac and the UP with Jon for another 850-some miles, I am back.

We had a great time. Wednesday, we drove to Marinette, although we had to stop to go potty and that usually means a short fill (aka beer) on a vacation trip. Jon took the Countryside in Peshtigo or somewhere around there for $49 in shake of the day, then we went to a couple of other bars and before eating some gas-station mcmuffins at bar time, back to our free night of sleep at the Comfort Inn or whatever in Marinette.

Thursday we headed to Mackinac but not before stopping by and donating to my favorite cause, the Indian casino. I only lost $15, Jon broke even so it was well worth an hour of time. Plus I hadnt had anything to eat and they had $2 cans of beer so it was a good cheap $4 mini-buzz. We took the ferry over and got on the island about 5:00.

We did have a couple of brews en-route to the lovely Mission Point Resort, then stopped at both Mission Point bars for a cold one before heading to the OP (aka the French Outpost) for a trapper burger and surprise, another cold one. Then we sat at the bar and I had this kick ass red-white-and-blue slushy drink that I could have had about 50 of them but my boyfriend smartly suggested we move on. So we headed back to the resort, and window-shopped and thought about stopping in a bar as they had some guy playing Brown Eyed Girl on the guitar but didnt go in because we were kind of dragging. Then he started on The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, so we went in and it was late-night happy hour with $2 beers, so we of course closed the bar down.

Friday we went biking around the island except I was super dizzy and shaky from my new medication and we were biking into a 25 mile an hour wind..no joke. So we cut halfway across the island, biked past the cemetery and the battlefield and went to the Fort which was pretty cool and hit Jons love of all things historical. Then we hit my love of all things food-ical and went to the Iroquois for lunch, shopped a bit and hopped the ferry back to town.

We got up to Detour about 6:00 or 6:30 and had a couple beers with Kindell. Tom showed up about 9, had some more beers and then hit the bar. I like towny bars as much as the next girl but this one was a super dump and it looked like the next match that hit the floor may take the fer right down. Greg and Michelle and Ryan showed up right at last call and I think we stayed up until 3 or so.

Saturday involved some sleeping in, followed by sitting around yip yapping most of the day (oh and a few beers). Saturday night was more going to the bars and the usual.I think it was 3:30 or so when we went to bed.

Sunday the boys went golfing all day, I spent part of the day making dinner and doing dishes (Italian beef and pasta salad). I still felt kind of crappy, dizzy and noodle-like so I had a few beers and that was about it.
Yesterday, we drove home all damn day. It was a LONG day of driving (ok riding) but I got most of my new kickass Janet Evanovich book read and slept for a couple of hours. Jon and I watched the West Allis fireworks from the school across the street from his house and I think I was asleep by 10:15. Arent I crazy?

I think that Ann finally has had enough of her lying, maybe cheatin piece of poo-poo boyfriend. Thank Godits so constantly drama filled and full of fighting and arguing, it makes it hard to be her friend sometimes. On second thought, not hard, VERY hard.

We had an interesting personnel change last week when I was on vacation. My old boss was released of his duties. Which is actually pretty goodas he was a gigantic ass with an even more gigantic sized ego. The kind of guy who would meet someone no matter who they were and where you were and introduce himself with his big VP title. I felt really bad as he had told us a few weeks ago (when he announced his own demotion to us) that he was getting divorced3 little kids, he hadnt been happy for years, wife slept with the kids every night, so he finally decided it was better to leave. I felt really bad as even though he is a complete jackhammer, on a personal and professional level, no one wants to see 3 little kids in a divorce situation. Well, my favorite former president, now consultant clued me in that he has a GIRLFRIEND. A total creepy creep, now I find out not only is he a big jerkoff in general, he also yada-yadad over the whole girlfriend part. I cant imagine finding one woman who would find his egotistical, maniacal act attractive, much less willing to sleep with his collarless shirt (sometimes snazzed up a little bit with button covers) with a suit wearing-ass, but he found another one. What is the world coming to??

Ok back to workJon and I are going to Summerfest tonight, kind of a spur of the moment decision but I am really looking forward to itWe have such a good time together and I really wanted to make it to the Fest at least once. Journey is playing (I know, without Steve Perry) but the new guy sounds really good.

Ciao!
Jess
